Welcome back to Term 3

Welcome back to Term 3

It's hard to believe that it is week 4 already. Our term started with a busy time - and it is going by incredibly quickly!

In week one of this term Room 7 organised and ran the Junior School Assembly. The children were very excited about the event and were counting the sleeps until the occasion. With practising their speaking bits, learning and practising our item, judging which class should get the environment award, and cool cards to award, we had lots to do!

This term our learning focus is about our personal identity and cultural heritage. We started this learning about what the word 'Individuality' means and exploring the idea of what makes each of us special and different from each other. Our assembly item reflected this, as the children each shared one thing that is special about them, and sang a song called 'Individuality'.

We are continuing our learning focus now by discussing where our families come from and exploring the culture of other countries. We are currently doing art inspired by NZ artist, Raewyn Harris, and learning about symbols of NZ culture.

On Monday 13th August, we had our school Cross Country event. The children had been training each day by working on fitness exercises, skipping, and running laps. On the morning of Cross Country the classroom was a buzz with nervous excitement. We were very lucky with the weather and the children did a fabulous job of demonstrating resilience and all completing the challenge.
