We are Scientists!

We are Scientists!

The children of Room 7 have started back at school this term with great enthusiasm and engagement in their learning. Our focus this term for our Inquiry learning will be all about science themes as we explore 'Change Happens'.

In week 1 we investigated what scientists do, and enjoyed practising our observation skills by using our senses to describe potato chips and marshmallows. The children described what the chips looked like, felt like, smelt like, sounded like and tasted like! They thoroughly enjoyed this, and were excited to repeat the process with marshmallows the following day.
To continue our learning about the scientific method, during week 2 we conducted an experiment using foam animals. The main aim of this lesson was to learn and practise creating a prediction and hypothesis. The children described what they thought would happen when we added warm water to the foam capsules and predicted what animal their foam shape would turn into. It was with great excitement they observed their experiment.
