Learning to measure

In Maths we are currently learning about measurement. We started this by learning how to measure length using non-standard units. The children had the challenge of finding equipment from around the classroom to measure length. During this problem solving we learned that we had to measure on a straight line from one end to the other, we had to use the same unit of measurement all along the line, and that we had to work together!

 Some of us learned that we could use paper clips to measure length. We made a paperclip chain and then compared ourselves and other things to it. We practised finding things shorter and longer.
