Learning about the Colour wheel

Over the last few weeks Room 7 have been learning about the primary and secondary colours. We have learnt the names of these 6 colours in English, Te Reo Māori, and NZ Sign Language.

This week we extended our learning by looking at the colour wheel. I gave the class the challenge of creating a giant colour wheel. As a team the children had to find the colours in the pages of magazines, tear out sections, and glue them on to the correct parts of a colour wheel. 

We had a great time working together on this challenge, and the children really enjoyed it!
We think our colour wheel looks amazing.

Finn the Movie star dog This week Jimmy's pet dog Finn came for a visit. He has starred on the movie 'Hunt for the Wilderpeople' and adverts amongst other things. Welcome to Room 7 2018

Welcome to Room 7 in 2018 We have had a great first week in Room 7. It's been lovely to meet all the children and their families. We have been focused on getting to know each other and setting up our classroom routines. We wrote about our summer holiday and our Waitangi weekend this week. We learnt about how to keep ourselves safe in the sun and created a classroom treaty in which we all agreed to work towards a safe and happy classroom. We had fun talking about what we want to be when we grow up and had a brainstorming session talking about what we think learning is; our purpose for being at school. In Maths, we are currently learning about collecting data and presenting it on graphs in our Statistics focus.   We had our first P.E session in the Gym with Room 8 last Friday. We really enjoyed playing games and using our problem solving skills to work together to complete team challenges.

Tony's Puppy

Tony's Puppy Today Tony's new puppy came to visit Room 7. His name is Cooper and he is 8 weeks old. His breed is a 'Westiepoo'.  Room 7 were very excited to see Cooper and really enjoyed watching and patting him. Cooper was very relaxed and happy to wander around, meet everyone, and even licked some of us!
